Hi HMRC admin Please answer my Query. I work in a NHS hospital as a doctor. I live in north London. For 2 years I used to commute to an NHS hospital in North East England. When I am on call duty, once a month, I have to stay in the hospital accommodation (as my home was far away), for overnight, and attend to emergencies. As per my contract I have to be within 10miles to attend emergency. My question is for those days , when I am on call duty and stayed on site, can I claim overnight accommodation Expense, food expense, and travel expense between home and hospital. I am not claiming travel expense for every day travel, but only for those days, I have to be onsite, as part of my employment contract. Thanks.

Hi Niteshanth,
No, you cannot claim expenses for this.
You are actually at your place of work and not been sent elsehwere as part of your employment>
Thank you.
