Hi all. I'm a UK citizen but not resident in the UK for tax purposes - based in SE Asia for work. I own property in the UK which generates income so I file a self-assessment each year. My question is: do I need to declare income generated from ETFs (through both part liquidation and dividend payouts) which I hold with an international broker? The ETFs are not domiciled in the UK. My assumption is that since I'm not resident in the UK and the ETFs are not UK income - they do not need to be reported to HMRC in the self-assessment.

Hi GCexpat2024,
If the ETF's are outside the UK and you are not resident in the UK, then they do not need to be declared in the UK.
Thank you.
