I have been unemployed for a few years, I am a registered freelancer (so I do self assessment) but have had less than 9k in income the past few years. I recently got left 10k and want to put it it in a private pension? I read somewhere there was a maximum I could put in and that I would have to pay something?

Hi Hayley,
Please refer to guidance at: Tax on your private pension contributions.
