My 22-33 self assessment payment stated the payment due for that year and the first instalment due for 23-24. I’ve already submitted my tax return for this year and have been given an amount and how much is due by the 31st July (which I understand to be the first payment). I am still being asked to pay the estimate from the previous year assessment. So it seems like I’m being charged twice?

Hi mqauder,
If you submit your return before the outstanding Payments on Account for that year have become due and been paid, our system will ask you for the 'balancing payment', which is the total amount due for the year, minus the two Payments on Account.
These two Payments on Account will still be due, and will be asked for seperately.
If you would like us to review your statement to confirm that you aren't being charged twice, contact us by webchat or phone here:
