Hi,

If you have an overpayment of tax through Self Assessment, you can claim this through your personal tax aAccount. If you would like to check the progress of your repayment claim, you will need to contact our Self Assessment team.

Hi I completed a self assessment for higher child benefit charge 2023-2024 and paid an amount into my online tax account. I can see the credit ok but it notes it is unallocated. My tax code is being adjusted for 25-26 for this amount of tax owed in 23-24 but I wanted to reduce the amount owed through my tax code by paying some upfront online. How do I use my unallocated credit against my tax code for 25-26? Do I need to request a repayment and then send a cheque in to use against my tax code? Thanks
