Dear HMRC, I will be moving to the UK this month to start a job in London, and I have a few questions regarding my relocation costs: 1. Will these costs be tax deductible? Given that it is a necessity for work and that my employer will not reimburse the costs, I'd imagine that it does qualify for tax deductions? 2. As I'll start in February, these expenses will fall in the current tax year 24/25, in which I would have only worked for two months. In this case, there is obviously no point of including it in this year's tax return, but will I be allowed to include it in the tax return for next year 25/26? 3. Related to the previous question, will I have to submit tax return if I'm only going to be working for 2 months in this tax year? Thank you very much. Cheers, Josh

Hi,
No, these are not tax deductable as it is your choice to move.
Thank you.
