I moved to the UK from overseas in 1 Aug 2022. Before 1 Aug 2022, I have never been to the UK before. I bought a buy to let property in the UK which the transaction was completed in March 2022. Then, I started to try to rent the property out. On 30 May 2022, the property was rented out as an unfurnished basis through a long term let. As the property wasn't rented out from the start of the beginning tax year to 29 May 2022, will it be considered as a home in the UK during this period? Thanks very much.

Hi Penguin Penguin,
As you had the home in the 21/22 tax year and came to UK in 22/23, Case 8 doesnt apply to you.
You may want to look at Case 4.
Thank you

I have lived in the property in Hong Kong. After moving to the UK, it was left vacant and I appointed a property agent to sell the property. Would this hong kong property be deemed as a home? Thanks.

Hi happypenguin Man,
You cannot have case 4 and case 8 in the same tax year.
Thank you.
