Hi, My sequence of events for UK Tax Year 6 April 2022 to 5 April 2023; 6 April 2022 - Resident in South Africa earning income 19 August 2022 - Last day of earning income in South Africa 27 August 2022 - Landed in UK 16 January 2022 - Started permanent job in UK 6 April 2022 to 5 April 2023 - Received rental income from property in South Africa. Declared and paid tax in South Africa for that period. Q1: Should I complete the self assessment on the online services? or do I need to use one of the alternate software programs? Q2: I have already declared the rental income and deductions on the South African Tax Service. If I declare it again here, will I be taxed again?

Hi Thamondran Nair,
As you will need to include the residence section with your return, you will need to use 3rd party software to file.
You can claim Foreign Tax Credit Relief against the rental income for the UK part of the year.
Thank you.
