I recieved a notice to file a return in April 2023 but I didn't believe I needed to so I filled out the online form to check with HRMC. I didn't receive a response to this form. I have lived in the US since November 2021, I filed a split year non-resident return for the 21-22 tax year but I didn't earn any UK income in the 22-23 tax year, nor do I have ties to the UK or meet any of the requirements to be classed as a UK resident. I did earn over £100,000 but all in the USA and no UK income was earnt. Do I need to file a 22-23 return? Very concerned about meeting the deadline as I was working under the assumption that in my circumstances no return was necessary.

Hi

From the information you provided, a tax return for 22/23 is not required.
