Hi all, I just want to double check, if I sell my QCBs. Do I need to pay income tax? I know the disposal of an asset which is a qualifying corporate bond (QCB) any gain is not a chargeable gain, so I don't need to pay the capital gains tax for the disposal of the QCB, but how about income tax? When I report the gains for selling my QCB in my self assessment, do I need to pay income tax? Please advise. Thank you!

Hi,
Please have a look at the guidance at CG53700c:
CG53700C - Capital Gains Manual: Shares and Securities.
Thank you.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thanks for your response. I have checked the manual but I am still confused. In CG53703, it says: TCGA 1992 section 115(1) provides that on the disposal of an asset which is a qualifying corporate bond (QCB) any gain is not a chargeable gain. I understand that the gain from QCB is not chargeable gain, but it is still a taxable profit under income tax or it is just a tax free gain? Please advise, thank you!

Hi,
QCBs are not subject to Income Tax and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
Thank you.
