I'm completing 2023/24 Self Assesment for other income. How do I input that I received marriage tax allowance from my wife on my PAYE salary, as currently this is not being taken into account in the calculation it is showing me.

Hi,
Ensure that you have declared your marital status at the start of your return as this will allow you to complete the Marriage Allowance section towards the end of the return.
If your wife completes a Self Assessment return, she will need to file her return before the transfer of allowances appears on your own calculation. If the transfer still does not appear your wife will need to contact our Self Assessment team.

Thank you.

Hi My marital status is correctly input at the start, but I am not finding a Marriage Allowance section towards the end of the return. Where is this section exactly? Is it after the calculation page? I see a section asking if I want to apply to transfer some of MY allowance to my wife. But not a section where I can input that I received the allowance FROM my wife. Thank you My wife does not complete a self assessment.

Hi ,

If you are in receipt of the marriage allowance then you do not enter anything on the tax return.

Once your tax return is processed our systems will pick up the marriage transfer and amend the tax return.

Thank you .
