I am non-resident in Cyprus. Under the terms of the DTA Uk Pension income is taxed in Cyprus. In September 2023 I took my pension pot as a lump sum, the Uk provider deducted Uk tax. Hmrc received my DT-form individual and confirmed I am due a refund of the tax in February 2024. As I have Uk rental income I must complete a Self Assessment using software. I am entitled to a personal allowance as I am a British resident living in the EU. Do I need to enter the pension lump sum details and tax deducted at source on the 2023/24 self assessment? If so - Where on the form would I complete the details. Thank you.

Hi,

As the refund will be done via your return, you need to include the details on HS304 to show it is exempt.

The UK tax deducted will be shown on the residence page at box 22.

Non-residents tax relief under double taxation agreements (Self Assessment helpsheet HS304)

Thank you.
