Part of my work is under PAYE, and the rest as self-employed. For the PAYE portion, I contribute to a workplace pension, but I also contribute to a SIPP. I understand that I cannot contribute more than my annual earnings (subject to the annual allowance), but I am not sure how to account for the workplace employer contributions and the workplace pension employee contributions (which are deducted before tax) in determining the maximum contribution that I can make to the SIPP. To illustrate: If I earn £40,000 in total, and have workplace contributions (employer and employee) of £2,000 would the maximum SIPP contribution (including tax relief claimed by my SIPP provider) be £38,000? Thank you, Paul
