Compensation from Employment Tribunal - type on income?

Hello, Please could you tell me if compensation from the employment tribunal (for unfair dismissal and discrimination) would be classed as 'income not classed as earnings' or 'unearned income'. It is paid through PAYE to me as an ex employee. Thank you.
