I work in a full time role at home, but also complete Self Assessment due to some freelance work. I didn't claim the WFH tax relief during 20/21 and now unable to amend my return from that year. Is there anything that can be done? Basically another way to claim that money? Thank you, Matt

Hi Matthew Brown,
As the timescale has passed to amend online you will need to submit the amendment in writing to review:
Self Assessment tax returns
Thank you.

Dear HMRC, I totally worked from home from August-2022 to end of April-2024, and I have filed the self assessment for tax year 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. If I want to claim back the tax relief for the tax year 2023-2024, what should I amend in the online self assessment? I tried to check different fields in the section "Amend your return" but I have no idea where I should amend. On the other hand, for tax year 2022-2023, does this mean I can only submit the amendment in writing? If yes, which form (SA100, SA102, or both?) should be submitted? Thank you for your reply.

Hi AlbertW,
You can update both of these returns online on your Personal Tax Account - insert the Working From Home allowance you wish to claim under 'Other Expenses and Capital Allowances' on your Employment pages. Or contact us by webchat or phone here:
Self Assessment: general enquiries
And we can assist you further.
Thank you
