Good Evening, I have completed my self assessment for 22/23, however my calculation shows my personal allowance code as the default 1257L whereas my personal tax page shows 1370L, could somebody please guide me on how to change this? I have used the 1,000 trading allowance so it won't let me adjust expenses to accommodate it. Thank you. RD

Hello, just to confirm I'm trying to change the personal allowance from the default 12,570 to 13,700 which is my actual personal allowance for the 22/23 year. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Romeo-Delta,
It depends what was in your code to increase to 1370L.
If for example it was employer expenses you would declare these expenses on the employment page.
You would need to check your tax code and if the adjustment was correct for 2022/23 then declare this on your tax return.
If you need more help then you will need to contact HMRC direct.

Thank you.

The increase to 1370L is the Flat Rate Expenses allowance (FRE) for Commercial Uniformed Pilots (EIM50050). I am checking if I am able to use this allowance as well as the 1,000 trading allowance and if so, how would I put it in the return? If I am not, then can I use the FRE allowance instead of the trading allowance? Thank you again, appreciate it.

Hi Romeo-Delta
If filing your Self Assessment then the personal allowance will be 12570. If your tax code for 2022/23 was 1370L then you would need to claim the additional relief in the code on the tax return. For example if expenses then you would claim the expenses to get the relief.
Thank you.

Hi,

Yes, you would claim the FRE on the employment page on your Self Assessment tax return.

The trading allowance would be claimed on the self employment page.

Thank you.
