Hello, I have shares for a US drug company held in a brokerage account in the US. The dividends are automatically re invested ( resulting in whole and fractional shares being purchased) and I do not receive dividends in cash, Based on this, my understanding is that I do not need to declare the dividends on my annual assessment because the dividends are automatically re invested. Is this correct? I do know that on selling these shares I will be subject to capital gains tax on any gains. Thankyou

Hi,
As the dividends are automatically reinvested by the company, you do not declare these.
Thank you.
