I am a sole trader who often works overnight as a part of business (in uk and abroad). Can I claim a night out expense under the same rule applying to self employed lorry drivers at a flat rate per night away and can I prove this is an expense from bank statements showing I have purchased dinner? Often I am not able to get a receipt as I am abroad and tracking the amount as an exact expense is very complicated. Would I be able to just claim a set rate of (for example) £25 per night I am away as long as I am able to prove it is a work expense. Additionally I invoice for this overnight expense to my clients so I can show it is an income which is dedicated to an expense rather than an actual income amount?
