I have to submit a tax return for 2023/24, as I need to pay capital gains tax. However I already claimed tax back and been refunded for this period. How do I notify this in the return please?

Hi,

If the tax was refunded via PAYE at the end of the tax year and before you filed your first tax return for the year, you can record this refund under 'Income tax refunded or set-off', towards the

end of your return. If your refund has come from an earlier Self Assessment tax return filed for the same year, the refund already received will be automatically factored in after you file your

updated return and when your updated tax bill is calculated - you do not need to record the refund on your return.

Thank you.
