Hi, My sister was a U.S. citizen who died in 2020. I have received a share of her estate(less than GBP80,000) within the 23-24 tax year. I have done a little research myself that there would not be any tax charge in the U.K. to me. However, do I need to declare it on my self-assessment 2023-24? Many thanks!

Hi,
No. There are no tax implication in the UK on inheriting a share of an overseas estate. We cannot comment on an US tax implications.
Thank you.
