I marked for AQA last year and they took out tax at source, which I am trying to get back from HMRC, using the 1000 trading allowance I have set up on self assessment. The question near the start where you are asked about how many employments is confusing. Does this include my Teaching job, and the Examining role. Or is this just the Teaching job, and the examining role goes in the self assessment bit lower down?

Hi Adam Strowbridge,
The employments relates to your teaching job and possible the exam marker.
This secondary role may not qualify as self employment to claim the £1000 trading allowance.
Please see:
ESM4151 - Particular occupations: examiners - status.
Thank you.

Hi hmrc I m a non contract examination inviligator to a high school but not paid under PAYE. For self assessment, should I complete the SELF EMPLOY form instead of the employment one? Also, if I used to complete the self employ Self Ass form and not claiming expenses, am I entitle to the 1000 pounds trade allowance? Thanks
