Hi, I was moved to UK in Aug-2023, and then I worked from Oct-2023 to Mar-2024, i got an NI and my employer deducted the NI every month on my payroll. At the same time, I have interest from my saving within this period. I used this link ( https://www.gov.uk/check-if-you-need-tax-return ) to check if i need the self accessment tax return, it said no. So, is it true? I asked because there is no question about if i am working for an employer, but just an off-payroll employee. Thanks. Cheers.

Hi,
There are a number of situations in which you may need to register for Self Assessment. Without knowing your individual circumstances we can not comment on whether or not this would be necessary for you.
If you are a payrolled employee then your employer would have enrolled you in PAYE, which is Pay As You Earn, for tax and National Insurance.
If your income from savings and investments is over £10,000 in the financial year, you need to register for Self Assessment.
You can find further information here:

Tax on savings interest
Thank you.
