Bank Repayment Pending

Another 8 weeks has past for me and still no further forward of getting a simple answer even been in touch with my local MP as advised by my accountant even raised a complaint with hmrc to be told wait 12 weeks been waiting now since 17th April

For my submission on 7-Sep-2023 for 2022/23 Tax return I continue to see status Bank Repayment Pending. I even called the helpline in November and they said they have escalated and it could take 8 weeks. Is there a date by when HMRC has to pay and finish what ever they are doing (security checks?) for 2022/23 Tax return? It is a substantial amount and I need to plan my finances. Thank you.

If selected for security checks we need to allow the timescale for the checks to be completed. If you have not received the repayment by the timescale date given then you will need to contact HMRC to review.
