Hi all, I've been selling my old junk and unwanted goods which have been sitting in my house for ages on Vinted. So far I've sold about 50 items which have totalled to around £750. I got a notification about the HMRC Reporting centre on the Vinted app as soon as I clicked on the notification and clicked next - the app froze which caused me to keep pressing next a few time - only for the app to submit the report. I didn't manage to add my NI number or my details as the app froze, I contacted Vinted and they said they are unable to change the report. How do I go about this process? What should I do?

Hi,
HMRC cannot help you with the Vinted error. If you feel you need to report the income to us then you will need to complete a tax return. Please refer to guidance at:
Selling online and paying taxes - information sheet
Thank you

Hello, We are the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (or LITRG - an educational tax charity). The onus is on the platform to collect, verify and report information to HMRC at the right time and in the correct manner, per this GOV.UK guidance: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/reporting-rules-for-digital-platforms. Hope this helps.

That is what I want to clarify, do I need to report income from selling unwanted goods? I haven't even gone past the £1000 threshold or £6000 threshold on Vinted. So do I need to contact HMRC regarding the wrong NI details or not?
