For FY2023/2024 my only source of income has been from my UK employer as PAYE until beginning of July 2023, paying taxes in UK, then I moved to Italy where I started receiving a salary from my current Italian employer and paid taxes in Italy. I filled and issued the P85 form accordingly communicating the move in July, and received the response from HMRC. Do I also need to fill out a self-assessment? I have no other sources of income and never had to fill out a self-assessment before. Thank you.

Hi,
You can check if you meet the criteria to file a Self Assessment return here:
Check if you need to send a Self Assessment tax return
Thank you.

Thank you for your response. I have undertaken the check, but I have a question on point 9: "Do you need to pay tax on any of the following?" as in my case I have received wages from my Italian employer from July 2023, but on those I have already paid italian taxes. So in this case is the right answer "non of these" as per Double Tax Treaty I do not have to pay UK taxes on the Italian income? Thanks

Hi,
If you are resident in Itay, when working for your Italian employer, you would only declare this income in Italy.
Thank you.
