I am receiving money for acting as a carer for a disabled relative. How do I record this in my self assessment? I contacted the DWP who are the ones making the payment, but they weren't able to confirm the Employer name nor the PAYE reference that I should use.

Hi M G,
This should be declared under UK pensions, annuities and other
state benefits received.
Thank you.

Thanks for confirming. I assume this money is still taxable?

Hi M G,
Yes, this is a taxable benefit.
Thank you.

I have carer allowance which has been overpaid and I am awaiting the demand to repay the excess. However, I have to put the Carers allowance on the self-assessment tax return as it has been received. I will therefore overpay tax this year and how do I get the tax back when I have to pay the rebate as I will have no carers allowance in the next tax year.
