Hello, I owe some SA tax for the YE2024, the deadline to pay is 31st January 2025. I made a test payment to make sure the money arrives safely. The money I sent did not reduce the tax amount I owe, instead, it is now shown as 'OVERPAID'. What will happen to this overpaid money when the deadline comes? Will HMRC use it 'automatically' to pay the tax that I owe when the deadline comes? Thanks, Maffy.

Hi,
Yes. Once your Self Assessment tax return will be fully processed, the credit on the account will be used against the arising liability.
Thank you.
