Should I cease trading?

Hi, I've been a sole trader for about 10 years, but I am giving up my work in order to care for my elderly father. Should I cease trading? or take some kind of break? From a tax point of view, what would be the pros and cons of these situations please? Thank you.

1. You can update your record to cease your self employment : Stop being self-employed.
2. You would need to register again as self-employed if this started again but would remain the same UTR.
