Hello HMRC, My husband and I currently claim tax free childcare for our 2 sons, and 30 hours of free childcare for working parents for our youngest son. My husband is paid monthly via PAYE and his last payment for tax year 2024/2025 will be on 28th March 2025. Anything he earns between 28th march and 5th April 2025 (tax year end) will not be paid until 29th April 2025. My question is, for the purposes of eligibility for the above schemes (tax free childcare and free childcare hours), would earnings between 28th march and 5th April be included in his net adjusted income for 2024/2025, or would this be included in the 2025/2026 calculation due those working days being paid in the next tax year. This is important for us as he earns close to the £100K eligibility threshold. Many thanks.

Hi,
This income should be included in his 2025 to 2026 calculation, as this income will be treated as paid, and taxed, in that year. To confirm this, and for more advice, please contact our Childcare Service team.
