Student finance maintenance grant

Hi guys, so I’m a French native and I lived in the Uk since 2011. I’ve recently decided to go back to uni. Unfortunately after filling up my form for student finance I notice that they would only allow me a 5K maintenance grant! I live by myself and my rent is £725 per month. Is this normal? I’ve seen some people saying that the amount might change later? My girlfriend has finished uni she was born here, her mum worked and she was receiving 6k per “year” !
