I tried to register to get a pension forecast. My details were not recognised by HMRC as presumably I have not informed them of my marriage 5 years ago, even though I have been in constant employment paying tax and NI. When I tried to change my name, using my Passport and driving license, one or both were rejected as they were already in my married name. I am at a loss how I can change my name or gain access to my pension records when my name has been different for 5 years. Surely this is not an unusual occurrence and HMRC can see the connection via my NI Number. Thanks

I didn't think this was a personal matter. All I want to know is has anyone else faced a similar problem and what they did to prove identity. I can't imagine I'm alone. Working 8-5 and then a commute home doesn't give me great hope of contacting HMRC by phone, if what I'm led to believe about waiting time is correct.
