Hoping you can help as this is the first time we have encountered this issue. Our company electric supplier EDF is advising that because a vat invoice is sent by post (which we have not received) that although we have access online to our account we cannot print a vat invoice for processing as due to HMRC regulations you can only access it once(this counts as postal invoice). Are we able to process the copy invoice which states it is not a vat invoice for processing the vat as EDF advise it is not possible for us to access /print a vat invoice. Please advise

Hi.

If a VAT registered busines provides you with a service then they must provide you with a VAT invoice if requested.

The invoice via the account isn't a VAT invoice as it states this and so this would not be able to be used as evidence for input tax recovery.

I would recommend that you ask the company to provide a VAT invoice to you again in order than you can treat this as input tax .

Thank you .
