Hi, I volunteerly registered for VAT when I started my busienss, but the turnover was much lower than the VAT threshold and HMRC cancelled my VAT registeration a few months later. However I still receive mails about overdue VAT payments from the period my business is registered for VAT. I have sumbmitted VAT return that showed my turnover during the VAT registered period is below threashold, and I also called HMRC who said as long as I submitted the return the standing payment should resolve. but I still receive mail as of August about overdue payment. Will HMRC cancel the payments or do I need to pay first and reclaim the amount I paid? thanks!
