Hi I have a question about my Vat number. I am still at the beginning of setting up my print on demand business. my question is will I have to pay anything if I take a long time to get my business set up if at all? Am I likely to have to pay anything through the year? or how long it takes to get everything set up if at all? I am asking because I am new to this or doing anything like this. I am a disabled man and I need to bring in more money for my family. Thank-you.

If you are based in the UK then there is only a requirement to register for VAT if your turnover exceeds £85,000 in a rolling 12 months. There are other obligations some info is here https://www.gov.uk/set-up-business https://www.gov.uk/business-support-helpline

Hi,

You will only need to pay VAT to HMRC once you are making supplies.

If you already have a VAT number but are not actively trading then you would just need to complete your VAT returns as nil returns and will not need to pay anything until the time you are trading.

Thank you.
