I have lost the phone number that was registered in my VAT Online account and now when I try to login, they send me a verification code that I am unable to receive which is why I have been locked out of my account. I tried calling the HMRC helpline but the agent asked me for a validity date for my VAT number which he mentioned is written on the VAT certificate. The problem is that I did not receive a VAT certificate on my office address when I registered and a copy of it exists in my VAT Online account which I can not access. Can anyone advise me a solution? Is de-registering and then re-registering a good idea?
