I de-registered from VAT due to a large turnover drop in 2022, I sell my product on eBay, I had to send them a letter from HMRC confirming I deregistered to un-restrict my selling account, a year has passed and they have restricted my account again saying I need to obtain another letter saying I am still not VAT registered (print out from online Tax account is not good enough) where would I go to get such a letter? thanks

Had a reply from Ebay today saying they process this sort of letter from HMRC on a daily basis for other non-VAT registered sellers but can't find anything online about it and they refuse to give me the HMRC dept/address on one of those letters so I can write to them

Hi,

We can only issue a copy of your deregistration letter which will show that you cancelled your VAT number from a particular date.

HMRC cannot issue letters confirming that a company is not VAT registered, we can only send a certificate confirming if a company is VAT registered.

Thank you.
