Hi there, I am still a bit confused about the VAT registration taxable turnover threshold. Does it include merchant/card processing/commission fee (ie. the gross sales figures received from the merchants/card providers/platforms such as Treatwell, Sumup, etc.) or it is based on the net sales figures I actually received in my business bank account? Thanks and regards, DV8818

Your turnover is the value of your sales. For example, you sell something on eBay for £12, that would be £10 net and £2 VAT (if VAT registered), so your turnover for VAT registration purposes is £12. You receive into your bank account £9. which is the fees you pay for commissions, listing fees or credit card charges. These are your expenses/costs but they are not your turnover, your turnover is still £12.

Hi,
Your taxable turnover for VAT registration purposes is the total of your taxable supplies you make in the UK. If you are being charged commission by other businesses then this is not your turnover as these would constitute purchases. You can see the guidance here:

Thank you.
