New VAT Registration Delays

Hello, I'm trying to follow up on a new VAT registration application. When I use the facility that tells me when I should expect a response from HMRC, it's telling me it should've been by the 23rd November 2023. I've still not received the response though. The helpline doesn't seem to function any longer, and I cannot be certain that my email to vrs.newregistrations@hmrc.gov.uk has been received as I've had no receipt. Is there any other way of following this up? It seems nonsensical in this day and age that the application process is so frustrating. Thanks

I do apologise that the regsitration helpline has been temporarily closed, they do have a backlog currently, but they should be responding as soon as they possible can, however you can contact the VAT helpline 0300 200 3700 who can check if a VAT Registrition Number has been issued unable to confirm over the phone but they can send a letter in post to your registered address.
