  • Overseas Inheritance tax and income

Dear Sir/Madam, It would be greatly appreciated if the HRMC Admin could respond to the three questions below:- 1) Is it necessary to pay inheritance tax in the UK for my overseas property (estate)? 2) The overseas inheritance of the property is being held jointly by my cousin and his wife. In the event of having to pay inheritance taxes, will the property be split equally between two people who file jointly or separately? 3) Do my cousins have to declare dividend income that is less than £2,000? Thanks a lot! Martins Family
  • Don't Have a National Insurance Number and Money Transfer from Overseas to the UK

Dear Sir/Madam, My cousin and his wife have been living and retiring in the UK since 2017. They have never worked in the UK before. Despite his wife being given National Insurance, my cousin hasn't applied for his own NI. They plan to send both their past savings and the money they inherited from Hong Kong in 2023 to the UK by the end of this year. Can you guide the necessary steps to take when transferring their past savings and inheritance to the UK? What forms do they need to complete, please? Is it required for my 70-year-old cousin to apply for his own NI to pay taxes on their inheritance? Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Best regards from Martins Family
