PAYE With Small Foreign Investment Dividend, ERI and CGT
Hi HMRC, Some Backgroud of my circumstances: I am domiciled in UK Employee paid via PAYE Pay Basic Income Tax Not Registered for and do not complete Self Assessment. I briefly owned an Irish Domiciled (Vanguard) Equity ETF for 3 months with the following transactions. (Offshore with UK Reporting Status Fund) I spent about £1000 Buying the Shares (Equities) I received 1x Dividend of about £3 I sold All shares for about £1010. For Tax Reporting - I estimate. CGT about £10 ERI / Excess Reportable Income £1 (Equity) Dividend about £3 I did not have any Withholding Tax applied and do not qualify for any FTCR (As No tax is removed by this fund in Ireland for UK investors) Question - 1) Do I need to register for Self Assessment OR can I add this via PAYE "Add Missing Investment Income"? 2) If I need Self Assessment, can this be Added as SA100 TR3 Box 6 "Foreign dividends (up to £1,000)" SA100 TR7 Box 19 "Any Other Information" SA108 Section "Listed shares and securities" In SA100 TR3 Box 6 - I would add the Dividend and ERI value e.g. £4 in SA100 TR7 Box 19 - I would Add the "IRL" Country Code with some other relevant details In SA108 "Listed shares and securities" - Add the £10 3) Please confirm SA106 would not be required as the thresholds are not met and I am not requesting Tax Credits. Please let me know if this is right or what alternative I should use. Your colleagues on these forums are very inconsistent with the SA106 requirement and often fail to mention the handling of ERI. Declare Uk Gov Bond Interest
Please confirm how I would report some uk Gov Bond (Gilt) coupon payments when I am not required / do not qualify for self assessment? Can I do this in writing or online via my personal tax statement “add missing investment income”? I use my personal savings allowance use used up via my bank accounts but I received about £100 in gilt interest via a uk broker. I would want to pay tax on this small amount and would like to know how when I do not need self assessment. I am paye, uk resident and basic tax payer. I have savings in bank accounts which exceed my personal allowance. Thanks
