  • Foreign insurance gain covered two years

Hi, my insurance was matured in Sep 2023 and it was a two year policy. A gain was received in Sep 2023 and I know this needs to be reported in self-assessment for 2023/2024. However since the gain was for the two years covered, can I split the gain into two halves and report in self-assessment for 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 respectively?
  • Private residence relief

Hi there, I bought my home on 14 Jan 2022 and started living in it from 2 Apr 2022. I moved out form 4 Aug 2023 and sold this home on 3 Nov 2023. During the period from 14 Jan 2022 to 3 Nov 2023, this house had never been rented out for income. From my understanding, I am entitled to full private residence relief and do not need to pay any capital gain tax. Thus I do not need to report the sale in self-assessment, am I right?
