I have paid 40% tax on my personal pension. When I complete the self assessment do I add 20% to the figure on my pension contributions or is this done automatically

Trying to adjust my income to account for Pension contributions that I have not received tax relief for - do I adjust the total income before tax on my self assessment, if not where do I input this adjustment
