  • Seafarers' Earnings Deduction (SED)

I understand that one of the criteria to qualify for SED is to have been resident in the UK for tax purposes in resident in a EEA state other than the UK. Is this reference to a EEA state irrelevant now that the UK is not in the EU anymore? Thanks.
  • Pension contributions as self-employed

Hello, I have recently become self-employed and I have started paying by direct debit into an old pension pot I had with a previous employer. I understand that I can claim tax relief on my pension contributions. However, I am unsure how and when this can be done. I have read online that the pension provider itself will claim tax relief back on my behalf. Is this correct? If only I can do it, when is the time to do so? In April, at the end of the tax year? Thank you, Paulo
  • Tax on savings account interest 2023-2024

Hi, I live in Scotland and during the tax year 2023-2024 I earned more than £1000 in interest from savings I had in several bank accounts. I understand I will have to pay income tax on earned interest above £1000, correct? Will the banks inform HMRC of how much interest I earned or do I need to declare it? If I need to declare it, how can I do it and by what deadline? Thank you,
