Tax on interest after a person has died
HI, My mother died last year and I'm the executor. I've sorted out all her personal tax payments and the estate wouldn't be liable to IHT as it is below the limit. The one remaining thing is that her accounts earned £1,350 in between her dying and me getting the probate through. I'm assuming I have to pay income tax of about £270 on this amount before I make the final distribution to the beneficiaries. I've written to HMRC PAYE department but not got anything back. Who do I contact about this? -
Tax on interest for deceased person's estate
My mother died last year and I am the executor of her estate. She had around £4,300 in interest from savings accounts and a further £1,300 was accrued by the estate before it was paid out. Her total income was just over £13,000, so she would have nearly the full £5,000 interest allowance remaining. Is the normal £1,000 interest allowance included in this or is it extra? Will I have to pay tax on the post-death £1,300? Can the beneficiaries reclaim this tax? If so how? -

I've been expecting something from HMRC since April as I thought they got automatic notification of interest amounts, but it seems I have to write in with details of the interest. Final Income Tax bill on deceased's estate
Hi, My mother died last year and I'm the executor of her estate. I got a tax refund soon after she died, but then a few weeks later I got a request to repay the last week of State Pension that she received after her death, about £200, which I paid. Should I be due a further tax refund on this money? The first refund came through so quickly and I thought the £40 might come after April, but nothing has arrived.
