  • SIPP Contribution - Transaction Processed Too Early

Hi, I recently made a SIPP contribution which was supposed to be for 06.04.2024. I've just realised I made the genuine error of putting it through on 01.04.2024 by mistake. Despite this contribution taking me over my relevent earnings value for the 2023-24 year, they accepted the deposit and claimed basic rate tax on my behalf. I am currently in the process of doing my self-assessment for 2023-24 - Is it acceptable to record this contribution in the 2024-25 tax year (as it was intended), as trying to get my provider to return the funds (for me to send them straight back) is proving very difficult. Alternatively, is it possible to get instruction from HMRC to pass to my pension providor telling them to reverse the deposit?
