  • RE: How to Pay Voluntary National Insurance Contributions from Abroad

"You can find out when you can expect to receive a reply form HMRC here: " PAGE NOT FOUND Doesn't that just sum up the entire system perfectly?
  • Payment of voluntary NI

It's insane that HMRC expects everyone in this country to be able to navigate this obtuse system. The documentation regarding the types of NI contributions is a incomprehensible mess in and of itself. But even when you've found out how much to pay, you're required to do a bank transfer? Excuse me? The user must enter a mess of letters and numbers as the reference (which doesn't fit) and enter the amount. ZERO confirmation that the transfer was successful will be given. There's also ZERO explanation as to how the money will be allocate. Will it pay the smallest gaps first? Or will it pay off the gaps soon to pass the deadline first? Who knows? Just send the money! It's really sad that for many people this process will be too complicated and very stressful. And for what reason? Because HMRC can't implement a simple click and pay system? Click the year you want to pay, enter your debit card details, and click pay. And how about a little note saying "payment of £XXX pending" for good measure. Is that too much to ask? What a joke.
