  • RE: Carrying forward CGT loss

Hi, If I didn't file a self assessment return for year 2022/23 as my total taxable gain during 2022/23 was less then the allowance while there were many loss during that year. Can I still carry the capital loss for that year to 2024/25 self assessment? If yes, how should I claim and report those unused loss during 2022/23? Thank you.
  • CGT calculation on cryptocurrency received as related income

Under my employment agreement, I will receive an annual bonus in term of cryptocurrency and the GBP value of the bonus I received every year is based on a certain ratio of my basic annual salary. The company would determine the actual quantum of the cryptocurrency by using the price of 365 day Volume-weighted average price of that specific cryptocurrency. However, when the cryptocurrency is deposited into my account, the price at that moment would always be different from the average price that used to calculate the quantum of the cryptocurrency I received. Noted that all these cryptocurrency bonus received have been taxed for my income tax under the PAYE system and no related income tax complication. I would like to know how to calculate the CGT when I sell the related cryptocurrency. When I dispose/sell the related cryptocurrency, what is the base value of these cryptocurrency assets? Does it base on the GBP equivalent of cryptocurrency at the date of receipt? or the GBP value of the certain ratio of my annual salary bonus that my employer used to calculate the quantum of cryptocurrency that I entitled to? To have an example, I entitled £5000 equivalent annual bonus in 2022 and the Volume-weighted average price for year 2022 of that cryptocurrency was £1 each. After the calculation using this average price, I received 5000 unit of that cryptocurrency as bonus . However, when I received that 5000 units cryptocurrency bonus, each unit may only worth £0.5 on that day(Worth £2500 in total). When I sell all this 5000units now for £2 each, is my capital gain £10000-£5000 or £10000-£2500?
