RE: UK income tax on periodic pension payments received from Canadian RRIF
The HMRC replies are not particularly helpful. The original poster does not ask about the taxation of lump sum withdrawals from RRIF/RRSP. They ask about periodic pension payments which are different. My understanding is that because of the tax treaty between CANADA/UK, periodic RRIF pension payments within the rules (greater of 10% RRIF value or 2 x annual minimum based on age) are NOT subject to 25% non-resident tax by Canada, just income tax in UK.
