  • Declare tax on savings

Hi for the first time ever I will need to declare tax on savings for 2023/2024 tax year-with an account I have with one of the large well known banks, which will take me over my personal allowance threshold. The amount is circa £2,800. How do I let HMRC know the figures. My bank said I have to do it and they certainly don’t tell HMRC and have therefore requested a tax certificate which I have got. Do I just write to HMRC attaching the certificate? I also want to pay what I owe as a lump sum, I do not want my tax code changing! Any help would be appreciated as I cannot get through on the phone, have tried multiple times, and there is no live web chat
