Hi all! I have been living outside the UK since 2018/19 living in different countries in SEA as a digital Nomad. I have been doing most of my work for a firm who are registered in the uk and they advised me to go through payroll as normal with my NI number and i was paying UK income tax and national insurance as a uk Resident despite living abroad for the last five years. I have recently been advised that I can claim this income tax back as none of the work took place in the UK and i have not bene in the uk since 2019 via an r43 form? would anyone be able to advise if this was true?
